Rising Stars Summer Theatre Camp

Sterling Playmakers will again be offering a theatre summer camp for local youth. This will be a two-week camp in late June and early July 2021. Camp hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday. The curriculum will be two or three tracks (Acting/Musical Theater/Tech), with a general focus of all disciplines during the first week and track breakdowns in the second week. Registration can be limited to rising 3rd graders through rising 9th graders, depending on the vision of the Camp Director. The camp should culminate in a final performance. The Camp Director may select a play/musical production, one-acts or a talent show with an additional spotlight on technical theatre.
CALL FOR SUMMER CAMP DIRECTOR
The Summer Camp Director is responsible for nearly all the planning and administration of the summer theatre camp. Where possible, the Camp Director will be supported by the Board of Directors and a team of volunteers. The Camp Director will attend monthly Sterling Playmakers board meetings to provide status updates.
Prior to camp, the Summer Camp Director will plan programs to reflect camp guidelines, recruit and select staff including junior counselors, and create a budget to be presented to the Board of Directors for approval. Among other administrative duties is the supervision of safety for campers and staff. Additional support and guidance will be provided in response to the COVID-19 as the pandemic progresses.
This is an evolving, supervisory position with other duties arising as required. The summer camp administrator will receive a $1,500 stipend.
Minimum Qualifications: A qualified candidate should have at least one season of education or camp administration experience. The candidate should have the ability to supervise staff and campers and the ability to plan, develop, organize and carry out day and special programs. The Sterling Playmakers Board of Directors will not be considering applicants under the age of 18.

Deadline: Applications will close Nov. 20, 2020. The season selection committee will conduct individual interviews with the candidates before submitting the applications to the Sterling Playmakers Board of Directors for a vote in December.
