MEET THE DIRECTOR: JANA DRUMM

Jana Drumm.jpg

Jana Drumm has over 30 years of experience as an Elementary School Music Teacher in both Arlington and Loudoun counties. She directs the youth chorus at Tolbert Elementary in Leesburg, which is made up of fourth and fifth graders. The chorus performs four times each year, including a cluster concert with middle and high schoolers, and they have also been invited to sing the National Anthem for the Harlem Globetrotters three years in a row. Additionally, she has directed youth musicals including Robin Hood, The Nutcracker (play, not ballet), Clowns, and Alice in Wonderland. She has also directed several music and theatre camps at Camp Highroad.

Jana is a long-time member of Sterling Playmakers, both as a pit musician and as a performer. You may have recently seen her on stage as Marilla in Anne of Green Gables (2019), The Ghost of Christmas Present in A Christmas Carol (2015), and portraying several characters in The Bad Girls of Western Lit (2015).

Jana believes that the most important goal of camp is to create a safe, fun, and engaging experience. She looks forward to teaching campers the full process of theatre, including audition techniques, improvisation skills, stage presence, and the confidence, energy, and dedication to perform.
