NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR

COVID-19 UPDATE

We will be following state and local recommendations and protection measures for COVID-19 throughout every stage of the show. We plan to take advantage of tools like zoom to conduct online auditions and rehearsals for the first few months. We are also exploring how we can incorporate masks with our costumes. We will stay agile for new developments and will act accordingly along with Sterling Playmakers Theater Reopening Subcommittee. The health and safety of our team and community are our top priority. Please see our interview below for more information on our current strategy!

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

We envision a diverse cast and crew team for this production. Cultural, racial, religious, age, sex, gender, sexual orientation, and disability diversity will be a primary focus when seeking out onstage and offstage talent. We want our cast and crew to reflect our community. Our production team will be working closely with our Diversity and Inclusion subcommittee and Outreach committee to identify ways we can be more open and inviting to diverse populations. Please see the Sterling Playmakers Statements of Diversity and Inclusion for additional information. Have questions or ideas? Please email us at wonderland@sterlingplaymakers.org

Welcome to Wonderland! I’m Rachel Veal, the director of Sterling Playmakers Spring 2021 production of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. This was one of the first shows I was cast in as a child and it has captured my imagination ever since. My debut as a playmaker was in the summer musical, 42nd Street. Since then, I’ve supported shows onstage and offstage while learning from the best. One of the super-humans I was privileged to work with is our producer, Aubry Fisher. We’ve assembled quite the fantastic team to bring the zany characters, rhythmic poetry, fast-paced humor, and magical landscape to life. Thank you so much for your interest in this truly special production. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions: wonderland@sterlingplaymakers.org
